Growing up, I was an average sized kid. That is until I hit puberty. My metabolism quickly changed and I started packing on the weight. By the ninth grade my weight had gotten up to 200 pounds. Once I got to college I joined a gym and lost a little weight, but I really had no clue how to workout. My diet was also in need of some help. Most of my meals consisted of fast food, sugary drinks and microwave dinners. It wasn’t until after college that I realized I had to make a change.
I started small with cutting out soda and making better food choices. Next, I made it a point to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. After a while I started getting into the habit of going and just feeling more comfortable being there. I then realized that for me to see the changes I wanted I was going to have to get some help, which was very hard for me to admit. So I hired a personal trainer. She was instrumental in teaching me how to work out and how to do it safely and effectively. And most importantly, she gave me the tools I needed to be able to do it on my own.
After being taught how to work out I started to love going to the gym and trying every fitness class I could. It became the one thing in my day I looked forward to most. My love for fitness and desire to help others encouraged me to become a certified personal trainer and level 1 certified CrossFit coach.
